Challenge 256 is not for profit ,non-partisan, civil society organization formed with aim of advocating of environment protection, health and community development that depends on Environment, Human Rights and good governance.

Challenge 256 will operate at policy level up there and work with various community based organisations to operate effectively-CBOs will operate at Grass root level.

Challenge 256 will endevour to have CBOs with all districts with gazated forests in Uganda.

Building strong ownership and issues and facilitating self-representation at decision making as well as systemic participatory community monitoring initiatives;

  Purposeful capture lessons and best practices for policy advocacy engagements (effective use of lessons) and sharing with relevant stakeholders,

The current problems faced by majority grass root Ugandans are; poverty and depletion of natural resources in last decades.
A selfless and voluntary spirits timed up in the mind of the founder Mr. Muwonge M Daniel in trying to solve the real poverty problem in Uganda.

In August 2016 Mr. Muwonge Daniel  and others were called to collect food and other relief items to be taken to Isingiro District which was hit by famine and drouht ,Isingiro district is in cattle corridor, for the first time in history of Uganda for such catastrophe to hapen,
In parliament the leader of government, business the prime minister presented  a paper indicating that 80 districts out of 112 districts in Uganda face food shortage and his government was to cut its budget allocations and buy food for Ugandans. And all this was a result of environmental degradation which must be faced with reality and practical solutions such as,Planting  trees in local effected areas and conserving swamps.
